His premise is that Palm needs a more stable multi-tasking OS NOW. The argument being that they wouldn't bet the farm on MS and they can't wait.

since they (palm) are announcing the MS treo tomorrow any argument he had collapses. IMHO

That would firmly put the Treo ahead of every other line of smartphones in my opinion. However, I'd be willing to bet there was some stipulations in bringing M$ WM5 into the foray, such as they would have the exclusive OS on the new Treo for a few months and the only other OS would be Palm OS (in whatever variant).

Just my opinion, but I doubt we'll see a Symbian Palm anytime soon.

Palm has had trouble getting traction in Europe. This surely would help them...

Uh... this is pure speculation and is unlikely to ever happen. However....

... I'd buy a Symbian Treo (maybe Insertion would prefer a Simian Treo? :D ) before I'd buy a WM Treo. :D I have a Series 60 Nokia and I love it. If only it had a QWERTY keyboard and a bit bigger screen - it would be a Treo!

Why change engine on a sinking ship? Why not just jump ship?

If I can pick any OS to run on Palm, I rather like win98se lol.

Wait for DOS 4.2 - it was specially configured for that extended RAM in the old Compaq 386 series - runs circles around 4.01. :D

Ed Colligan ruled out a Symbian OS today (in a way he never did for Windows). It's Windows and Palm.
